Abstrakt

IoT devices in smart homes present a persistent security challenge: granular access control without burdening users. This paper proposes a blockchain-backed architecture that offloads access policy enforcement to a distributed ledger, making rules tamper-proof and auditable while keeping the user-facing interaction simple.

The system was prototyped and evaluated against conventional access control models. Results show that blockchain can deliver meaningful security improvements for IoT environments without the latency overhead that typically rules it out for real-time device interactions.
