Abstract
This paper presents the implementation of a micro-credential issuance platform built on the Bloxberg blockchain — a permissioned network operated by academic institutions and designed for research and educational use.
The system allows universities to issue digitally signed certificates for short-form learning outcomes. Each certificate is anchored on-chain using a decentralized identifier (DID), making verification independent of the issuing institution’s availability. A React-based frontend and a REST API documented with Swagger handle the student and administrator flows.
The paper covers the technical architecture, the DID generation process for issuers and certificates, and an evaluation of the system against the requirements of the MENDELU micro-credentials programme.
